Apparently I still have peanut butter on my mind since my last post, except this is totally a much healthier option.
With the right ingredients, smoothies are the perfect way to start the day or for that afternoon pick me up right when you are ready to doze off, or when you just need something to tie you over until dinner. Either way, you’ll be sure to curb your hunger with this Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie that is packed with protein-rich ingredients that will give you the energy you need to get through your day.
It’s one of my favorite smoothies and it’s so easy to make, especially since it only takes like a minute to whip up. I also love to make smoothies for my kids as an after school snack. I try to be sneaky and make sure I have the blender going while they come through the door so they don’t start snacking on something unhealthy. My teenage son is the one who always asks for this smoothie at least 3 times a week. And I’m happy to make it for him.
The ingredients are ones that you likely already have on hand. Bananas are on my grocery list every week and whenever they start to turn brown I immediately peel them, slice them in half and put them in plastic bags to go straight in the freezer to keep them frozen for future use. You’ll get the best flavor out of a banana that is overripe.
This recipe is easy to customize with your favorite ingredients. I personally like to customize it by using ingredients that are healthier options for me. I use 1½ Tablespoons Skippy Natural peanut butter, 1 frozen banana, 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt, ½ cup Silk brand unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract and a handful of ice cubes.
Put the ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth and eat immediately!
Instant breakfast or afternoon snack and it’s oh, so good!
