When the holidays come to an end for the year and you’re feeling all of the effects of the treats and food you ate, there is honestly nothing better than a good reset for your body.
Even if dieting or eating healthier isn’t one of your main goals, I think our bodies naturally just crave food that is better for us after eating all junky. I absolutely love that citrus fruits are in season right now. There is nothing better than the bright, crisp taste of a good orange or lemons to brighten up your mood. Citrus fruits are a great source of vitamins A and C and are powerful anti-oxidants.
I sure love starting my morning with a great smoothie that’s packed with amazing nutrients to get your body energized for the day. This smoothie also has mango, which is packed with fiber, so it will aid in keeping you full throughout the morning. The ingredients are delicious and once you make it, you’ll be craving it all the time.
A few key points to making this great smoothie. If you are using a fresh mango, you’ll want to add a bit of ice to thicken it up. I always use frozen mangoes, so that I can enjoy them year round. I use plain Greek yogurt (Fage Total 0% to be exact). I like the consistency it gives the smoothie. You can also use non-fat vanilla yogurt. One last key point, I use Cara Cara oranges. I LOVE these oranges. They are a tad bit sweeter that naval oranges and they are just – oh, so good. You don’t have to use Cara Cara oranges, I just love the depth of flavor they give to this smoothie. The recipe makes about 12 oz, so you can make it for two people, or I just have drink the entire thing because it’s so so good! You’re gonna want to make it soon!
