Chocolate crinkle cookies are one of those cookies that are just simply iconic. They’ve been around for decades and are still quite the popular cookie. Over the last year I have wanted to perfect this cookie. I wanted a perfectly puffy cookie, crisp on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. With just the perfect chocolate flavor.
I absolutely love testing recipes. I feel like a scientist in the kitchen. I love learning from my failures and eventually coming to a success. And after 8 cookie fails, I finally did it. I tweaked recipes and finally perfected (for my liking anyway) the chocolate crackley cookie.
And for some reason, I love this cookie particularly during the Christmas holiday season and it’s a perfect cookie to add to your holiday cookie tin for sharing with neighbors. Actually, to be honest – I have dreams of sharing a beautiful cookie tin for my neighbors filled with at least 8 different cookies. Then, the season gets busy and I end up making just one kind. But I definitely make sure it’s a good one. And trust me, this is a great one!
So get your holiday baking on and make these cookies. Share them with family, friends and it’s even a good one to leave for Santa.
A few key points to keep in mind while making this cookie, if you want to cookies more puffy, make a smaller cookie. If you scoop a larger cookie, it will spread out a little bit more but not too much. It will still be soft and chewy.
Make sure you refrigerate the dough at least 2-3 hours. I actually prefer to let it sit overnight. And eath them as soon as possible, these cookies are best warm and essentially right out of the oven! Enjoy!
